In this memorable year, <strong>Lorenzo Viotti<\/strong> will become the 4th Music Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Mr. Viotti will conduct a total of 7 programs and 11 performances in the 2026\/27 season. At the Inaugural Concert (May 2026), he will lead the orchestra with <strong>Beethoven&#8217;s Symphony No. 1<\/strong>, which was featured in our first regular concert in 1947, and <strong>Mahler&#8217;s Symphony No. 1<\/strong>, a significant composer in his repertoire, embarking on a new musical journey with the orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Furthermore, as a new chapter with the new Music Director and the orchestra, the program will include works that showcase the orchestra&#8217;s skill and expressiveness, such as <strong>Ravel&#8217;s Daphnis et Chlo\u00e9<\/strong>, presenting a diverse program that merges Mr. Viotti&#8217;s musical vision with the Orchestra&#8217;s ensemble prowess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:#cfcece\" class=\"has-inline-color\">80th Anniversary Concert: F. Schmidt : Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln<\/mark><\/strong><br>In September 2026, as part of the 80th anniversary celebrations, Mr. Viotti and the orchestra will perform Franz Schmidt&#8217;s oratorio Das Buch mit sieben Siegeln, which was first performed in Japan by TSO in 1977. Based on the New Testament&#8217;s Book of Revelation, this work grandly depicts the end of the world and judgment, evoking various crises faced by modern society and posing profound questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:#cfcece\" class=\"has-inline-color\">80 Years of Progress and Moving Toward the Next Era<\/mark><\/strong><br>Throughout its 80-year journey, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra has overcome numerous challenges, continuously preserving the flame of music. As we reach this significant milestone of our 80th anniversary, all members of the orchestra are committed to building on our history and moving forward powerfully into the next era.<br><br><strong><mark style=\"background-color:#cfcece\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Renowned Conductors Illuminate the 80th Anniversary<\/mark><\/strong><br>TSO will celebrate its Laureate Conductor, Hubert Soudant for his 80th birthday in Novemeber 2025. In addition to Honorary Guest Conductor Naoto Otomo, guest conductors include Pablo Heras-Casado, Osmo V\u00e4nsk\u00e4, Nodoka Okisawa, Pierre Bleuse, Tatsuya Shimono (in order of appearance in subscription Concerts), Daichi Deguchi, Motonori Kobayashi (in order of appearance in Kawasaki Subscription Concerts), Eiji Oue, David Reiland, Junichi Hirokami, Tsuyoshi Oiwa, Ryusuke Numajiri (in order of appearance in the Tokyo Opera City series), Yuu Kumakura, Shun Ooi, and Erika Kiko (in order of appearance in the Masterpiece Cassics). The concert will feature a blend of sounds across generations, celebrating the 80th anniversary with brilliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-cyan-bluish-gray-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-70f4c4f8abcf7d3677074475915ba0e4\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:#00a0d2\" class=\"has-inline-color has-contrast-color\">New Ticket Service<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:0;margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\"><br>Starting from the 2026\/27 season, we will launch a new service to enhance the convenience of ticket purchases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20);margin-bottom:0;margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--20)\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Subscription tickets for the Subscription Concerts, Kawasaki Subscription Concerts, and Tokyo Opera City Series, along with the Masterpiece Classics Set tickets, will now be available for purchase online.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cStudent Subscription Ticket\u201d will be relaunched as the \u201cU25 Subscription Ticket\u201d. This will be available not only to students but to all individuals aged 25 and under, enabling more young people to enjoy music.
